Going the Second Mile

At 147 Team our mission is to empower and uplift vulnerable deaf children by providing them with life-changing opportunities to attend camp and participate in enriching experiences. We believe that every child, regardless of their hearing ability or life circumstances, deserves the chance to grow, connect, and thrive in a supportive and faith-filled environment. Our desire is to go the second mile based on scripture in Matthew 5:41 that says, "If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles."

Through generous support and partnerships, we remove financial barriers, ensuring that deaf children can experience the joy of community, the beauty of nature, and the transformative power of faith. By fostering belonging, confidence, and spiritual growth, we equip these children with lasting memories and a supportive community and the encouragement they need to embrace their God-given potential.

Together, we are breaking down barriers, building up lives, and creating a future filled with hope and possibility for every deaf child we serve.

We do this to honor our son Joseph, who was a connector of people, an adventurer by heart, and a faith filled young man, who was a champion for all and loved bridging the gap between the hearing and deaf communities where ever he went.  We know that his humorous spirit and servant heart will shine through us all as we share his story.

The founder of 147 TEAM, Gwen Oatsvall, formerly co-founded 147 Million Orphans that served vulnerable children internationally for over nine years . 147 TEAM has taken the call to empower those with the desire to serve by opening avenues to do so together in order to make a big noise for the Kingdom of God.
